Donatella Versace Distances Herself from New Miami Restaurant Named “Donatella”

Donatella Versace is making it clear: she has no affiliation with the new Miami Beach restaurant and hotel bearing her name.

In a sharply worded statement, the designer condemned the upcoming Donatella Boutique Hotel & Restaurant—set to open at 1350 Collins Avenue near the former Versace Mansion—as an attempt to capitalize on her family's tragedy and her personal brand. “To try to capitalize on our tragedy and my name for profit is disgraceful,” she wrote on Instagram, referencing the property's proximity to where her brother, Gianni Versace, was murdered in 1997.

The Donatella Hotel is a collaboration between the Nakash Group—owners of the Versace Mansion—and Vida & Estilo Hospitality Group. The project is being billed as a Mediterranean escape in the heart of Miami Beach.

Despite its positioning as the “sister property” to the former mansion, Donatella has firmly denied any involvement: “The hotel and restaurant named ‘Donatella’... has and will never have anything to do with me or my family.”

Her statement casts a long shadow over the hotel’s debut, calling into question the ethics of invoking her name and legacy without consent.
