Hellblade 2 finally gets that long-awaited PS5 release date

Ladies and gentlemen, grab your best headphones: Ninja Theory will finally release the enhanced edition of Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 — a lowkey 2024 game awards season victor — on the PlayStation 5 on Aug. 12.

The enhanced edition will include several new features, including Performance, Dark Rot, Developer Commentary, and Enhanced Photo Mode, per Xbox Wire.

1. Performance Mode – Where the original release was optimized for 30fps to deliver an immersive, cinematic experience, the Enhanced update will include a ‘Performance Mode’ to optimize for 60fps. On PC, the game will offer a “Very High’ preset to push fidelity even further based on personal hardware. 
2. Dark Rot Mode – The Dark Rot from Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice has returned and offers an additional challenge for Senua in this optional game mode. The Dark Rot will grow each time you fail, and if it reaches Senua’s head, her quest is over and all progress will be lost.
3. Enhanced Photo Mode – the Enhanced update will include an expanded and improved toolset, including a new ‘Motion’ tab for custom cinematic video capture.
4. Developer Commentary – for those interested in the craft and creative decisions behind Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II, the Enhanced update includes over four hours of developer commentary from a variety of voices involved in the making of the game.  

The PS5 versions of Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 will arrive in standard and deluxe editions, priced at $49.99 and $69.99, respectively. Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 standard edition will include the base game with all of the upgrades available through the enhanced version of the game, while the deluxe edition includes Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II enhanced, a PS5 enhanced version of Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, and the Senua’s Sacrifice soundtrack.

Oh, and speaking of Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, if players already own the PlayStation 4 version of Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice can upgrade to the PS5 enhanced edition for free.

Ninja Theory’s release of Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 enhanced edition will also bless players across Xbox Series X, Xbox PC, and Steam with a free update for the game.
