How to insulate?
I recently moved in and would like to insulate my basement walls but shortly after the townhome was built 10 years ago, a pipe burst just outside the townhome and caused a minor sinkhole. It damaged the foundation apparently but it was fixed up and had a vapor barrier and drainage added so any water that does make its way in can only go to the sump pump. But how would I Inulate this wall? Is it fine to have insulation pushing the vapor barrier against the concrete? My concern is with trapping water in the concrete. I dont want to violate any utah code as that would void the HOA being responsible for the foundation as its a shared foundation wall with my neighbor. My plan is to use the old insulation that was stored in the basement. It's been smashed in a bag for the last 5 years. I was going to throw that behind the wall studs but if it's going to cause issue later on then I'm just as ready to toss it. submitted by /u/KatLover143 [link] [comments]
