Nothing makes you feel as unstoppable in Elden Ring Nightreign as having a legendary weapon

Finding the weapon that best suits not only your class but also your playstyle is a real challenge, though. When you’re out of luck, the best option is to look for some smithing stones and upgrade your initial weapon. However, you can only upgrade weapons so far. The only way for you to ascend it to legendary is by finding a special Smithing Table.

In this Elden Ring Nightreign guide, you will find a complete rundown on how to upgrade weapons to legendary and where to find the special Smithing Table that allows you to do so.

Legendary weapons, which have golden borders, are the strongest ones in the game, though you must be at least at level 10 to use them. Lots of famous weapons like the Sword of Night and Flame are part of this category. If you upgrade a weapon of any other tier to legendary, they receive a “+2” suffix.

To upgrade any of your common, uncommon, or rare weapons to legendary rarity, you must visit the special Smithing Table. You can only access it when “The Crater,” a Shifting Earth event, is taking place in Limveld. You can’t predict when the event is going to be available, though. The basic weapon upgrading system in Elden Ring Nightreign allows you to level weapons up to their next tier with the use of smithing stones.

Under this system, common weapons can only rank up to uncommon, and uncommon to rare; you can’t turn a common weapon into a rare one. But with the special Smithing Table, you can — and the process does not require a smithing stone or runes. It’s a free legendary upgrade, so long as you make it to the special Smithing Table without dying.

Special Smithing Table location in Elden Ring Nightreign

You can find the special Smithing Table at the lowest level of The Crater region. It’s guarded by a Magma Wyrm. The path is also filled with minor bosses, like Fire Prelates, and lots of dangerous enemies.

The Crater is a fire region north of Limveld. To reach the room where you can upgrade your weapon to legendary, start from the debris of columns next to the church in this region.  An Elden Ring Nightreign screenshot showing the Duchess character walking toward a group of enemies.

You want to jump from the edge until you land on a lower floor. Be careful, because even though Elden Ring Nightreign doesn’t have fall damage, enemies can attack you while your prepare to jump, or you could land on the wrong spot. Once you’re on the right floor, cross over to a building using an improvising bridge made of a broken pillar. There are a few enemies in this section. You should try to ignore as many of them as possible to avoid dying, but whether you kill them or not, go ahead and jump into the hole on the ground to get to the next floor. In this corridor, keep moving ahead, maintaining the same direction. Your goal is to reach the end of the corridor and jump your way to the next segment. To do so, you need to traverse some lava by leaping across more debris. Follow the corridor and turn left on the first opening. Be ware, though, as there’s a Fireprelate boss and two Fire Monks. Kill them to open the door. On the right side of the image, you see three enemies in front of a blocked door.

Once the path is clear, go through the new passage and turn right and head downwards. There are some Flame Chariots, which you can ignore if you want. When you reach the end of the section, turn right to a short corridor. A montage using two Elden Ring Nightreign screenshots. The first, on the left, show the path players should follow downward and the second, on the right side, shows a corridor.

You must turn left next and head to the end of the corridor, which is guarded by lots of Fingercreepers. At the end of the corridor, jump. You can either use some structures to platform your way down or just nosedive to the lowest level. A montage using two Elden Ring Nightreign screenshots. On the left side, we have a corridor with a few Fingercreepers and, on the right side, we see some platforms leading to the lowest floor in the area.

You made it! Just follow the only path available to you now and you will find the arena where the Magma Wyrm will appear. In the middle, there’s an altar where you can find the special Smithing Table. An Elden Ring Nightreign screenshot showing the altar where you can upgrade weapons to Legendary.

According to our testing, you can only upgrade one weapon per match. When you’re done, use the Spectral Hawk to leave the area.
