How would you go about fixing this towel rod holder?
Towel rod was loose on the wall, upon removing the wall plate I discovered that the drywall behind it must've gotten soggy from the shower and it started disintegrating. Second photo shows the stud placement. The one on the left I'm not sure on, my stud finder struggled with the shower tile, but it's 16" left of the one I could find. As you can see, I feel like if I wanted to patch the bad spot properly between two studs, I couldn't because the tile is in the way. It's a small bathroom (our only one) and I don't really have another place to hang it. Given that this thing will be holding a heavy damp towel, and will experience pull forces, could I get away with patching it to just the stud on the right? If so, would it be silly to apply a line of silicone caulk between the towel rod plate and the new drywall? submitted by /u/bluespartans [link] [comments]
