Unfortunately, there is no in-game voice chat in Elden Ring Nightreign. Depending on the platform you’re playing on, though, you have other options to rely on if what you need is to chat with friends during a match.

Elden Ring Nightreign doesn’t offer a text chat either — not even one for you to send some passive-aggressive emotes to your teammates. The single tool you have in order to communicate your intentions in-game is the pin system. 

How to communicate in Elden Ring Nightreign

Since you can’t tell the other players in your party what you think they should do or ask them what your next goal should be on the map, you need to find the best way to convey what’s on your mind.

The best solution is to use any app that allows you to voice chat with your team. You must make quick decisions in this game and saying them out loud is the fastest and most efficient way. Discord, available on computers, consoles, and mobile phones, is the most ubiquitous and easily used. But this is method is only available to teammates you’re already friends with, as there’s no text chat that allows you to swap server URLs or usernames. In these situations, you must lean on secondary solutions. 

As mentioned, the game’s official communication method is the pin system, which allows you to mark spots on the map. Each player in the party can put one pin on the map, and you can additionally support another player’s suggestion by interacting with their pin.

A good strategy to emphasize your ideas and plans is to repeatedly pin the same place multiple times. You should even use the pin system to mark items you want to to collect or Site of Grace you need to visit before heading to the next battle. It is possible to guide the group by constantly moving the mark to closer locations toward your objective.

While the classic emotes are still great to perform after a successful battle, using them to direct other players or call their attention is not necessarily the best way to go. They aren’t easy to see if one player is distant from the others and the animation might cost you precious time.
