Kieran Culkin and Jazz Charton's Complete Relationship Timeline

Academy Award-winning actor Kieran Culkin and his wife, Jazz Charton, have been together for over a decade, yet they keep their relationship largely out of the spotlight.

The Succession star first met Charton by chance at a bar in 2012. A year later, the couple privately eloped during a road trip through Iowa. They welcomed their first child in 2019, followed by a second in 2021. And if Culkin’s speech at last night’s 2025 Academy Awards is any indication, baby number three—or even four—may be on the way.

Originally from the UK, Charton moved to New York City in 2010 and has largely stayed out of the public eye. Before their marriage, Culkin dated his After Ashley co-star Anna Paquin and his Paper Man co-star Emma Stone. He and Stone have remained close friends, later reuniting on Movie 43 and A Real Pain—the latter at her insistence.

Keep reading for a look at Charton and Culkin’s full relationship timeline, which all started with a fateful night at a bar.

2012: Kieran Culkin and Jazz Charton Meet

Kieran Culkin first met his wife, Jazz Charton at a bar in New York City back in 2012. Charton was working in the music department at an ad agency at the time, according to Culkin in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

"I said, 'I'm Kieran. You have an English accent. What's your name?' " he told The Hollywood Reporter of the moment. "She said, 'Jazz.' I said, 'J-A-Z-Z, like the music?' And she said, 'Yeah.' And I said, 'Well, that's f*cking stupid.' "

2013: They Elope

Culkin and Charton made it official during an elopement while on a road trip in Iowa.

In 2017, Charton took to her Instagram to share a photo accompanied by some details on their private nuptials. “#tbt to taking time out of our road trip to get married by the side of the road in Iowa during a storm 4 years ago today. Still the best pit stop I've ever made," she wrote in the caption.

She shared another photo and details from their wedding in a 2020 Instagram post writing, “7 years ago we went on what was supposed to be a 6 week road trip but ended up taking 3 1/2 months. 7 years ago we fell in love with Iowa. 7 years ago we met a girl named Kinsey who helped us get our marriage license and 7 years ago today we said I do in the rain with 3 strangers."

2019: Culkin and His Wife Welcome Their First Child

The two welcomed their first child, a daughter named Kinsey, on September 13th, 2019. When Culkin received a Golden Globes nomination the next year and lost, Charton had cheeky words for her husband. “My 3 time Golden Globe loser. I got pregnant the last time he lost so I'm out of consolation prize ideas…," she wrote on Instagram under a picture of Culkin holding an imaginary trophy.

2021: They Welcome Their Second Child

They welcomed their second child, a boy named Wilder Wolf, on August 17th, 2021, only a few months after announcing Charton’s pregnancy.

2024: Culkin's 2024 Golden Globes Speech Shoutout

To accept his award for Best Television Actor at the 2024 Golden Globes, he began with his typical levity by lamenting he should’ve listened to his wife and simply said “thank you” and left. Before wrapping up, he thanked Charton for putting up with him “and all that comes with it.”

2024: Culkin's NSFW Emmys Speech Request

While accepting the Emmy for Lead Actor in a Drama Series, Culkin made the first (of two) NSFW requests to his wife. “Thank you for sharing your life with me and for giving me two amazing kids, Zissou and Wilder Wolf, I love you so many and so much” he began in his speech.

“And Jazz, I want more,” he quipped. He went on to playfully remind Charton she said “maybe” if he won the award.

2025: Culkin Makes Another NSFW Request in His 2025 Academy Awards Speech

Culkin’s acceptance speech at the 2025 Academy Awards truly topped them all. He started off by thanking his team and his A Real Pain co-stars, while throwing in a satirical comment here and there.

At the end of his Oscars speech, he made yet another NSFW request to his wife. He went on to recount his first request for another child at the 2024 Emmys and how she later responded by saying she’d give him four if he won an Oscar. “No pressure, I love you, I’m really sorry I did this again, and let’s get cracking on those kids, what do you say?”
