Looking to fix the threading on a cheap metal bedframe... is there a term for a bolt with a slightly tapered tip?
I bought a cheap metal bedframe that is assembled using eight M6-1.0x45mm bolts. The problem is, whoever cut the holes had basically no quality control. Some are just a hair undersized or fouled with hardened drops of enamel paint. As a result, despite all bolts being identical, only about half of them actually thread. It's a huge pain to ship a bedframe back, and I swear I've seen bolts made for this purpose, where the tip might start at an M5, then quickly scale out to an M6, to assist with centering and repairing threading. Problem is, I can't find them when I look for something i can order online I have seen occasional pictures of what I want, but none of them gave a clear name or online ordering. Is this a pipe dream or do I just not know the right keyword to google for? If this isn't how to solve such issues, can you help me find the right tool? (I've included a mockup of what I'm looking for, just to make things clear) submitted by /u/gschoppe [link] [comments]
