Minimum size for battens when adding drywall / plasterboard to a brick wall?
I'm moving into a new house which has brick walls - I'd like to cover one of the walls with plasterboard / drywall to make it smooth enough to use as a feature wall with wallpaper. I think screwing a wooden frame into the wall would give me the best chance of levelling the wall out, rather than dot & dab, which I've never done before. But what's the minimum depth I can use for the battens? Is there a recommended air gap that's needed between the brick and the drywall sheet? Could I get away with 25mm / 1" timber? Anything else I need to consider? submitted by /u/mentalist_mental [link] [comments]
