On June 6, Tribeca Film Festival CEO and Co-Founder Jane Rosenthal and Chanel hosted an intimate lunch at The Greenwich Hotel Courtyard to honor Through Her Lens: The Tribeca Chanel Women’s Filmmaker Program, spotlighting the next generation of storytellers shaping the future of film.

Now in its 11th year, the initiative continues to empower emerging women and non-binary filmmakers through mentorship, industry access, and financial support. In her opening remarks, Rosenthal reflected on the program’s evolution, crediting its roots to a shared vision with producer Paula Weinstein. “What began as an idea between two friends has become one of the most vital artist development programs in the industry,” she said, adding heartfelt thanks to Chanel for their unwavering support.

Filmmaker and Through Her Lens Advisory Committee member Patty Jenkins echoed that sentiment: “Storytelling is a profound responsibility... the most powerful thing I can do is what I’ve been trained to do—tell a story.”

The afternoon brought together a mix of influential figures in the industry, including Miley Cyrus, Riley Keough, Olivia Munn, Parker Posey, Carrie Coon, and Lola Tung, among others. Together, they toasted to the program’s impact: 45 films developed, multiple festival debuts at Sundance and TIFF, and a growing roster of alumni reshaping Hollywood’s narrative landscape.
