Movistar KOI has won League of Legends’ LEC Spring 2025 split after beating G2 Esports 3-1 in the Grand Finals.

The grand final match saw a total of 509,010 peak viewers, marking a drop from last year’s figure of 593,554 from the finals between G2 and Fnatic, according to esports data company Esports Charts.

The average viewership also saw a decrease of more than 30,000 viewers from 265,478 in Spring 2024 to this year’s 228,120 figure. That being said, the number of hours watched was 10m higher (32,602,111), driven by the presence of best-of-five (Bo5) series throughout the whole playoff format. In 2024, Bo5s were applied from Round 3 onwards.

Aside from the grand final, viewership across the most-watched matches remained somewhat similar to last year. The lower bracket match with MKOI and Karmine Corp (KC) also broke the 500,000 mark, which didn’t happen with other matches in 2024.

G2, MKOI, and KC continue to be the European teams leading the charge when it comes to viewership numbers in the league, as the five most-watched series in the LEC 2025 Spring playoffs only featured them.

This is further backed by the fact that both the French and Spanish-speaking channels, which are the two main languages for KC and MKOI fans, peaked at 175,272 and 167,395 viewers, respectively, according to Esports Charts.

Twitch continues to be the main platform for LEC viewers, peaking at 437,767, five times more than YouTube (87,720).

How Movistar KOI Toppled G2 Esports

With both teams already locked in for the upcoming Mid-Season Invitational (MSI), the finals match between G2 and MKOI was mainly to determine the seeding for the EMEA region.

After narrowly beating Karmine Corp in the lower bracket, MKOI showed up in great form against G2 in the finals, taking the first two games of the series thanks to great early-game execution led by jungler Javier ‘Elyoya’ Prades Batalla.

Despite G2 bouncing back in Game 3 with a convincing win, MKOI found a great teamfight to open up a big enough lead in Game 4 and close out the series. Elyoya ended up winning the Finals MVP for his stellar performance in the team’s wins.

MKOI’s triumph also marks a major milestone for mid laner Joseph Joon ‘Jojopyun’ Pyun, who is now one of the few players to have won domestic titles in both EMEA and North America.

G2 and Movistar KOI will now have a break before flying over to Vancouver, Canada, to face top teams from League of Legends’ other regions at MSI. The event is kicking off on June 27th, 2025, shortly after the end of VCT Masters Toronto.
