Taiwanese esports organisation CTBC Flying Oyster (CFO) has defeated GAM Esports in the League of Legends Championship Pacific (LCP) 2025 Mid-Season Qualifying Series to win its second domestic title of the year.

The Grand Final saw the LCP break its viewership record by peaking at 483,444 viewers, generating a major increase compared to peak numbers from the previous Split 1 (261,090), according to data from Esports Charts.

The record was already broken during the lower bracket final between TALON and GAM, which saw 375,407 peak viewers. Average viewership has also been stable at over 80,000 people across both splits so far.

Moreover, with CFO’s performance at the first international tournament of the year, First Stand, the newly formed LCP has been getting strong recognition from a competitive standpoint.

Is the LCP Merger a Success?

The merger is working out as intended, driving stronger numbers for the region. In particular, the Vietnamese fans represented the large majority of the viewers during the LCP 2025 Mid-Season, with over 300,000 peak viewers, according to Esports Charts.

The popularity of the game title among the Vietnamese community, paired with GAM’s presence in the final, were the two main driving factors behind the new record.

This is further supported by the fact that GAM was present in the four most-watched series through the LCP Mid-Season and VCS’ numbers from 2024, when it peaked at 312,539 viewers in VCS Spring.

To put it into comparison, the other regions pre-merger recorded much lower numbers (129,489 for PCS and 56,346 for the LJL).

CFO and GAM will now wait for the rest of the playoff tournaments to end before they fly over to Vancouver, Canada, for the upcoming Mid-Season Invitational, which will start on June 27th, 2025.

The Taiwanese team, which is currently the only team from First Stand to have qualified for an international tournament again this season, will be playing in the Bracket stage. Meanwhile, GAM will have to battle the second seeds from other regions in the play-in stage.
