Need help with fixing/replacing exterior door threshold
My door sill threshold's gasket has broken over time and is allowing water into the house, so I need to replace or repair it. The issue I am having is that I cannot find a replacement L shaped gasket for it (36 in Length x 1.75 in Depth x 1.75 in Height), and the threshold itself seems to be a non standard unit, where the part that sits under the door is a standard 36 inches, but on the outside, the sill is 40 inches long to go underneath the door frame, and I am having trouble finding anything to match this size. There is also a wood piece underneath the gasket that needs to be replaced due to water damage. So I am unsure of the best way to handle fixing this. Perhaps replacing the gasket and wood underneath with a solid piece of wood and replacing the door seal on the underside of the door to fit? Also, would a door sweep work as a temporary solution to keep water out until a fix is in place? Thanks! Here are some pictures submitted by /u/Rikukun [link] [comments]
