Patta and AVIREX Team Up to Reimagine the Icon Jacket
After celebrating its 20th anniversary last year, Patta is showing no signs of slowing down as it enters its third decade. The seminal Amsterdam-based streetwear brand has linked up with AVIREX to rework the American label's Icon Jacket – and Patta isn't the only brand with something to celebrate, with AVIREX marking its 50th year in operation having been founded in New York City in 1975.The limited edition Patta x AVIREX Icon Jacket is constructed from color-blocked panels of premium leather in five colors – a bold combination of yellow, black, brown, green and white that not many brands could pull off. But both Patta and AVIREX have the cultural cachet to try – and try they have, delivering a final product that's busy on paper but actually quite subtle, with a palette that's complimentary and just works.According to the duo, "each detail thoughtfully representing the unique history of both brands": inside, two decades of Patta artwork adorns the jacket's lining to offer "a visual archive of the brand’s journey"; on the front of the jacket you'll find AVIREX's 50th anniversary shield crest resting on the left side of the chest; and, on the back of the bomber, "Patta 4 All" is unapologetically plastered in block capital letters made from two layers of contrasting black-on-white leather. Patta has been pushing this slogan for years, one that it calls a "message of inclusivity" and "a core pillar of the Patta brand".
