Pet damaged poly

I had my wood floors refinished about four years ago with several coats of oil based poly on top. Turns out my dog had a secret pee spot in the dining room that we discovered several months after refinishing. Finally getting around to wanting to fix it and I’m wondering how to best do it. The company that refinished them came back out and recommended we refinish the entire dining room again. Is there an easier way? I was thinking off taping off the undamaged planks, doing a light sanding of the damaged ones, and then putting a new coat of poly on top. I know the finish will be much shinier than the other planks but hoping that will wear off over time to blend back in with the rest of the room. I do still have the stain they used if it is recommended to sand it back down to bare wood for the affected planks. The pet staining doesn’t seem to be nearly as bad as some of the videos I’ve watched but you can see a few dark edges on some of the planks. The pictures are two shots of the bad area as well as a third of the unaffected area for example. submitted by /u/VTbrz [link] [comments]
