Energy drink brand Red Bull has revealed it will host an official Tetris tournament in collaboration with The Tetris Company.

Described as ‘the ultimate Tetris tournament’, the inaugural Red Bull Tetris event will see the debut of ‘special power-ups’ designed to showcase the skills of participating players.

Qualifiers for the event are now open to players over the age of 18 and of all skill levels. As part of the tournament, Red Bull Tetris will introduce a range of new gameplay mechanics designed to test the skills of those looking to secure a place in the National Finals.

For the UK, the National Finals will take place between September 1st and October 31st, 2025. The winner will advance to the Global Final, taking place from December 13th to 15th at the Dubai Frame located in Dubai’s Zabeel Park.

The Dubai Frame currently holds the record for the largest frame in the world, standing at 150 metres tall and 95 metres wide. The final game of the event will take place within the confines of the frame, where over 2,000 drones will be used to represent the playing pieces.

“Tetris has been bringing people together for more than 40 years, creating connections across generations through its timeless gameplay. Partnering with Red Bull to launch a global competition is an exciting next chapter for us,” said Maya Rogers, President and CEO of The Tetris Company.

“At Tetris, we’re passionate about evolving the ways people experience the game, and this tournament is another meaningful step in continuing to share the joy of Tetris with the world.”

Red Bull is no stranger to hosting unique esports and gaming tournaments. In recent years, it has operated events for a variety of titles, including Apex Legends, Street Fighter, League of Legends, VALORANT and Trackmania.

Does Tetris Have an Esports Scene?

Tetris has featured a passionate esports community for several decades. In 2010, the Classic Tetris World Championship (CTWC) launched, providing players with a platform to showcase their skills.

In 2025, the circuit continues to host tournaments across the world, with CTWC DAS taking place in Cologne, Germany, between July 17th and 19th.
