This week we’re talking emotions. I know what you’re thinking: Isn’t that the lifeblood of so much of TV and movies? Sure! But the throughline between the new premieres and finales is Big Stakes and Big Feelings. Whether it’s the end of the world (The Eternaut, The Walking Dead: Dead City) or it just feels like it (The Four Seasons, or how I will feel without The Righteous Gemstones), there’s a lot to feel our way through this week.

All that and there’s new episodes of Andor dropping tomorrow. Talk about big feelings!

Here’s the best new TV premieres and finales this week.

New shows on Netflix

The Four Seasons

Genre: Comedy of errors
Release date: May 1, with all episodes
Showrunners/creators: Tina Fey, Lang Fisher, and Tracey Wigfield
Cast: Tina Fey, Colman Domingo, Steve Carell, and more

Based on the film of the same name, The Four Seasons follows three married couples on one of their weekend trips. It’s a quarterly tradition and it’s under threat: One of these couples is in the process of splitting up. As you might expect, the relationships between these six friends will be tested, as it so often is when people go away for sequestered vacations as a group in TV and movies; god bless.

The Eternaut

Genre: Science fiction
Release date: April 30
Showrunner/creator: Bruno Stagnaro
Cast: Ricardo Darín, Carla Peterson, César Troncoso, and more

It’s summer in Buenos Aires, and a series of power outages has people on edge. Unfortunately for them, it’s about to get worse. A mysterious event causes basically all technology to stop functioning, and then toxic snow starts falling from the sky that kills everyone it touches. How far does this phenomenon spread, what caused it, and what does life look like in this terrifying new world? You’re going to have to watch The Eternaut to find out, pal.

New shows on AMC

The Walking Dead: Dead City season 2

Genre: Zombie apocalypse
Release date: May 4 at 9 p.m. EDT
Showrunner/creator: Eli Jorné
Cast: Lauren Cohan, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and more

Our unhappy pair of Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and Maggie (Lauren Cohan) was left in a bit of a precarious place: Maggie got her son Herschel (Logan Kim) back, but realized he’s still under threat. Negan is being held by the leader of New York, who wants to use him to unite the factions of New York under less-than-kind terms, or else she will continue to threaten Herschel. Is any of this enough for Maggie and Negan to put the past behind them?

New shows on Max

The Righteous Gemstones series finale

Genre: Religious children comedy (pointedly not “religious comedy for children”)
Release date: May 4
Showrunner/creator: Danny McBride
Cast: Danny McBride, Edi Patterson, Adam DeVine, and more

God is great, but The Righteous Gemstones has been greater. It’s sad to see them go, but they’re going out the only way they know how: big.
