We Got Major Eye Sparkle Inspo With Ulta Beauty At NYLON House

There’s no better excuse than a festival — with its strobe lights, neon installations, and nonstop photo ops — to go all in on sparkle. At this year’s NYLON House, the Ulta Beauty bar was a magnet for glitter lovers and glam enthusiasts alike, where pro artists created statement eye looks featuring shimmer-packed lids, bold liner, and strategically placed face gems that lit up the night. The vibe? Playful, polished, and made to be photographed.

Content creator Alicia Montes, who lit up the event with her bedazzled makeup, gave us the details: “I love how they incorporated little gems around my eyes — it made me feel so magical and extra glam” The look struck the balance between bold enough for a big night out and effortless enough to recreate at home — exactly the kind of approachable glam the Ulta Beauty makeup artists had in mind. “Everyone loves to feel their best at all times, and picking up a few new tricks was such a plus,” Montes said. “One makeup tip I learned from the [Ulta Beauty] makeup artist is that some products are multi-purpose if you get creative with them. The same eyeliner he used on me was the one he dabbed on my nose to create faux freckles — and I’ll definitely be adding that tip to my everyday routine.”

Get the light-catching look for yourself with these five picks, all available at Ulta Beauty. They're perfect for festival season or any event where you want to turn up the fun in your summer glam.

It’s easy to dial your glitter level up or down with this customizable, multidimensional shadow formula. For a soft, ethereal shimmer, lightly brush a small amount across lids. But if you’re looking for a high-impact effect, try working it with your fingertips. “For maximum payoff, gently press this shadow with your fingertips, from the lash line up to the brow bone,” says Deney Adams, Ulta Beauty PRO team makeup artist.

These tiny star decals are a playful way to make your look pop. They apply like temporary tattoos — just peel off the film, place the design across your cheeks and nose, and press with a damp towel for 60 seconds before gently lifting the backing. They’re transfer-proof and water-resistant, so they’ll stay put through dancing, sweating, or getting teary-eyed during your favorite artist’s set.

You know that old rule about looking in the mirror and taking one thing off before you leave the house? The opposite goes for festivals. When you think your makeup is done, that’s your cue to grab the tweezers and add a few rhinestones along the outer corners of your eyes. “For this part, there are no rules,” says Adams. “I’d say go wild, but even just a few in the corner of your eyes will do the trick.”

The key to making glitter and gems feel polished — not like a toddler who got into their mom’s makeup — is definition. A sharp, clean line of eyeliner adds structure, making the whole thing look intentional. Adams suggests complementing your face gems with a chic, half cat eye. “For this effect, start your line right in the center of the lid, as close to the lash line and as thin as possible to begin with and gradually get thicker as you glide out,” he says. “It’s all in your preference. It can be bold and dramatic, or soft and demure.”

Next, take a cue from the Ulta Beauty makeup artists and lightly dot a few freckles across your nose too, dabbing it with your finger to smudge it out for a realistic effect.

Loose glitter is a festival staple — and way more versatile than it gets credit for. Mix it into body oil, lip gloss, or liquid highlighter for a custom glow, tap it over cream or gel shadow to amplify the shine, or dust a little along your hairline for an unexpected hit of sparkle.

Now you’re ready.
