Sadie Sink Stars in New Prada Documentary Film on Plastic Waste

Former L'OFFICIEL cover star Sadie Sink joined forces with Prada to become an ambassador for its commitment to eco-friendly and sustainable fashion through its documentary films. In partnership with National Geographic CreativeWorks, Prada unveiled a campaign alongside its ongoing series that explores the purpose of its Re-Nylon initiative and the importance of reducing plastic waste.

The four-episode series features Stranger Things actor Sink in addition to Benedict Cumberbatch as each star showcases Prada’s Re-Nylon bags against breathtaking backdrops of some of the world’s most stunning oceanic landscapes. The proprietary material is made from plastic waste collected from oceans and landfills, and the documentary films aim to take customers behind the scenes. Prada's Re-Nylon is how the brand aims to reduce environmental impact: by using what's already out there when creating products new products, instead of using new, non-renewable materials.

Sink—who was confirmed to play alongside Tom Holland in Spider-Man 4 on Wednesday—stars in the final installation of the four-part documentary series, telling viewers about the Great Kelp Highway. She, alongside marine biologist Giovanni Chimienti and scientist Rodrigo Beas “explore the Great Kelp Highway in the waters of Islas Coronado… [and they] first-hand witness how rising ocean temperatures, near-extinction of species, overfishing and global pollution have all affected  the kelp forests—a delicate habitat, now endangered,” per Prada’s press release.

Beyond the content made with National Geographic CreativeWorks, Prada is putting one percent of proceeds from Re-Nylon items towards Sea Beyond, an educational program designed to raise awareness about ocean preservation among younger generations. Episodes are available to watch on Prada's website, and the full Prada Re-Nylon Collection is available to shop online as well.
