Sealing Rim Joists - How to Handle Angled and Recessed Parts?

I’m working on air sealing rim joists in my basement with foamular and expanding foam, wondering how to handle these recessed and angled parts. Between most of the joists the foam sits pretty much flush with the sill plate (only about 2” cavity. Can I insulate the inside of the large cavity with rockwool etc and then foam and air seal flush with the sill plate like the other gaps or do I want to put the foam board at the back of the cavity and then run foam along the angled part to the back?
