Storage room flooring with built in shelves?
I have a weird room off of the bedroom that I use as an office in my house. It's about 7ft x 11ft but with a very sloped ceiling as it hangs over the garage. I use it for storage and am planning to build some shelves out of plywood and 2x4s to better use the space. However it is carpeted. I have considered just putting in the shelves and letting the supports do what they do to the carpet. I've also considered removing the carpet and going with the bare subfloor. I have no idea what it looks like. I will usually walk into the room without shoes so I also looked at some cheap rubber flooring like stall mats. I don't really care about ruining the carpet with the shelf supports as long as it's not going to sag too bad. The easiest solution is just to build the shelves and move on. Should I rip out the carpet? I've also considered using a lengthwise 2x4 at the bottom to distribute the load on the carpet and maybe reduce sagging? submitted by /u/MeetYouAtTheJubilee [link] [comments]
