Legacy and Virtus.pro have become the first two teams to earn a place in the third stage of the BLAST.tv Austin Major after scoring an unbeaten record in Stage 2.
Whilst two teams have moved on to Stage 3, BetBoom Team and OG Esports have been eliminated after recording three losses.
Legacy And Virtus.Pro Advance
Before the Major, all eyes have been on FaZe Clan after the North American organisation recruited Oleksandr ‘s1mple’ Kostyljev as a stand-in. Despite recording impressive victories in rounds one and two, the team was unable to overcome Legacy‘s aggressive play style in round three,.
For the Brazilian side, its impressive run of form continues after being called upon by tournament organiser BLAST at the last minute as a replacement for BESTIA. As a result of the 2-0 win, FaZe Clan drops to a 2-1 record and is still only one victory away from securing qualification.
Virtus.pro became the second team to earn a place in the third stage after sweeping aside PaiN Gaming 2-0 in its third-round match. In addition to beating PaiN, VP also defeated OG Esports and B8 to advance to the next round.
OG Esports and BetBoom Crash Out

Whilst it was a joyful occasion for Virtus.Pro and Legacy, two teams also faced elimination from the BLAST.tv Austin Major. Perhaps the biggest match of the Major so far saw an underperforming Team Falcons fight for survival against OG Esports.
Prior to its round three match-up, Falcons suffered losses to B8 and Lynn Vision Gaming.
Team Falcons commenced its must-win series against OG Esports on Dust II, securing a convincing 9-3 lead. However, OG managed to overturn the deficit to snatch the opening map 13-11, leaving the Saudi Arabian organisation needing two maps to stay in Austin for another round.
Nuke was another close contest between the two sides, with both trading the lead back and forth before the Falcons scored its first map win of the tournament with a 13-10 score line.
Team Falcons started to spread its wings on Mirage, flying to an 8-4 lead at the end of the opening half. Despite a few glimpses of a potential comeback from OG, the Falcons managed to wrap up the map 13-6 and the series, earning another chance to qualify for Stage 3.
Meanwhile, MIBR (Made in Brazil) looked to keep its Major campaign alive as the team took on BetBoom Team. With both sides needing victory to stay in the tournament, the best-of-three series was all to play for. What ensued was a closely contested match-up between the two teams.
MIBR opened the series with a 13-11 win on Train before rounding off the series with another 13-11 win on Anubis to eliminate BetBoom from the Major.
