Workshop wall finish
Hi, I'm looking for ideas to finish the walls of a storage shed/workshop. I should mention that the space will remain a storage/workshop area, so I'm not looking for high-end finishes—just something that will stop the dust/sand that "falls off the walls." The structure is attached to the house, with three walls made of concrete-filled and reinforced cinder blocks. The shared wall with the house, as well as the ceiling (which is a concrete slab), are covered with extruded polystyrene, over which cement plaster was applied and smoothed. As you can see in the photos, in some areas there are still occasional water infiltrations when it rains heavily, always in the same spot. It's relatively difficult to solve from the outside, so the finish should allow the wall to “breathe.” I was personally thinking of applying lime directly, but even here I’m a bit confused because most paints are silicone-based, anti-mold, etc., which makes me worry that they might seal the wall’s pores and trap moisture inside. So ideally the finish trap/fix the sand particles in the mortar but also allow the wall to breathe :D Any ideas are welcome—thanks in advance! https://preview.redd.it/7z7jthz5h33f1.jpg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a557cc404eeb7623fcb27fdc5cc33c79a1afe7a7 https://preview.redd.it/lbj28iz5h33f1.jpg?width=4284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=42a8cb20fb88b897bc46fce2d5dfe511b876b73b https://preview.redd.it/ma8vphz5h33f1.jpg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fd1447ce8803980f2cd35fd4c4fc397ebe82588d https://preview.redd.it/hzj4hiz5h33f1.jpg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=73bada9c55dcd81cfb81a7997ff8df2b2f90458d submitted by /u/StunningText7807 [link] [comments]
