The headline itself is pretty shocking, right? But it’s true! Xi Lai Gaming (XLG), a team from VCT China, has officially qualified for VALORANT Masters Toronto, yet it has fewer than 200 followers on X (Twitter).

In fact, the organisation had just 10 followers until a Reddit user spotted it earlier this week, leading to the thread gaining over 1,000 upvotes.

The VCT Ascension China 2024 winners joined X in January 2025, but the account only became active in April after XLG secured a spot in its first-ever international VCT event.

Like most Chinese teams, the organisation primarily uses platforms like Weibo and Bilibili, where it has a much stronger presence with 26,000 and 42,000 followers, respectively.

The Sudden Rise of Xi Lai Gaming

2025 marks Xi Lai Gaming’s debut in VCT, and it’s already one of the top contenders for the China Stage 1 trophy. The team is just one win away from making it to the Grand Final and has lost only a single series in the tournament so far.

Not only this, but XLG has also defeated giants like EDward Gaming and Trace Esports on its journey to the top.

The team’s duelist, Arthur ‘Rarga’ Churyumov, is currently the second highest rated player in Stage 1 and has the highest ACS of 267.5 among all players, according to VLR.

Xi Lai Gaming will next face Wolves Esports in the Upper Final on May 2nd for the third time this season. So far, the team has maintained a clean record against Wolves in 2025. It will be interesting to see whether XLG can continue the streak or will Wolves get its revenge?

The match will be streamed live on VCT China’s official Twitch and YouTube channels; however, fans will also be able to visit VCT CN Arena in Shanghai to cheer for their favorite team.
