Overwatch 2 has announced that it is addressing community feedback regarding its popular new mode Stadium, including concerns about performance, cross-play and more.
A series of updates and changes will be rolled out in the near future during Season 16 to improve Overwatch’s arena mode.
A post was made on X by the official Overwatch account, acknowledging player criticisms while promising “more updates and tweaks to Stadium throughout the rest of Season 16.”
In the post, the three most popular issues were the lack of cross-play support, high number of leavers mid-game, and performance on older systems such as Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
Blizzard agreed that the lack of cross-play was “an issue and will enable it”, but that it would have to be launched in a future patch update. The company is expecting it to launch midway through Season 16, but promises to keep fans posted.
Next on the agenda was the high number of leavers in Stadium. However, Blizzard shared that its data didn’t present the issue as extreme as fans have been making it out to be.
The post read: “There are leavers in Stadium, but our data is showing that it’s not any higher than Ranked. We’re investigating whether there is an issue with our data.
“This could potentially be a perception issue, but we’d rather take a look at our side first! We should have more info later this week.”
Finding the Right Balance
Stadium introduced a lot of new mechanics, including new abilities, a third-person camera, and more, which is taking a toll on older systems. Blizzard has reassured fans that it is “currently looking into it” and is looking to implement potential solutions in a “near-term patch.”
Finally, Blizzard shared that it is looking into hero balance, with some of the best characters performing better than others. However, Overwatch’s creators also stated that “it’s a little early to publicly commit to anything” as the mode has only been out for a short while.
Blizzard has also addressed a prominent visual bug where Battle Pass XP was displayed as zero once a match ended. Furthermore, it is increasing the number of Comp Points earned, which will come in effect midway through Season 16.
