On Monday, an internal presentation for a planned standalone expansion to 2019’s Disco Elysium was uploaded to YouTube. The presentation was recorded prior to the game’s reported cancellation in June of last year.

The video, published by Disco Elysium fan account Jamrock Hobo, concerns Locust City – An Elysium Story, a standalone expansion set in the universe of Disco Elysium. Known internally as “X7,” the premise of the game centered on Cuno and Cunoesse, two foul-mouthed street kids living in the dilapidated coastal city of Revachol.

Presented by Chris Avellone, who worked on the project prior to former lead developer Robert Kurvitz’s firing in 2022, and Dora Klindžić, who currently works at Summer Eternal, the 14-minute video is essentially a pitch deck and vision board detailing production process behind the game and the various mechanics of its world. According to Jamrock Hobo, production on Locust City – An Elysium Story continued for nine months before the project was cancelled, which places the date of the video approximately around October 2022 — around the time when former ZA/UM editor Martin Luiga announced that Kurvitz, art director Aleksander Rostov, writer Helen Hindpere, had left the company.

“This was sent to me with the request to upload it, so I guess that’s what I’ll be doing,” Jamrock writes in the video’s description. “The things you find in your inbox, [sic] huh.”

Last month, ZA/UM announced “C4,” an espionage RPG set in a separate universe from Disco Elysium. The developer also announced that a Android mobile port of Disco Elysium was also in development and slated for release this summer.
