Aimee Lou Wood Is Mad at 'SNL.' Walton Goggins Had Something Else to Say

Aimee Lou Wood made headlines over the weekend after a pre-taped The White Lotus parody sketch on Saturday Night Live aired. The actor was less than unimpressed. 

The "White Potus" sketch, a politically themed spoof of the hit HBO series, featured Sarah Sherman as Chelsea, Wood's Season 3 character. In the five-minute spoof, Chelsea makes a brief appearance and is shown wearing cartoon-esque, large teeth. It's safe to say that Wood didn't find this flattering nor funny. Rhe 31-year-old took to Instagram on Sunday to express her dissatisfaction with the sketch. 

In one of her story posts, Wood wrote, "But whilst in honest mode—I did find the SNL thing mean and unfunny." She acknowledged that she understands that SNL makes jabs for comedic purposes, but that she wished they would do it properly and accurately. The English actor reportedly received thousands of messages of support from fans who agreed that the sketch comedy could've taken a different approach to their portrayal of Chelsea/Wood.

Hours after her initial post, Wood took to Instagram stories again to announce that she had received an apology from SNL, although she didn't reveal the specifics, (as in who apologized and who didn't). Throughout her press tour for The White Lotus Season 3, Wood had been vocal about the attention and criticism her physical appearance faced, specifically her teeth. It's all about veneers in Hollywood, and with that beauty standard in mind, Wood has said that she didn't think she would have transatlantic success. Many fans, however, have praised Wood for challenging the norm and see her natural teeth as a much-needed breath of fresh air from the overrated veneer smile. 

Wood's response to the sketch wasn't the only thing that caught the public's attention, as Walton Goggins decided to join the chat.

Goggins—he portrayed Rick Hatchett, Chelsea's love interest, in The White Lotus Season 3—took to Instagram to show his appreciation for the sketch. The since-deleted post revealed that Goggins viewed the sketch as a "smashing" parody. Goggins didn't provide any further commentary as to why he deleted the post, but fans were quick to call it shady given the feud rumors surrounding the actors. 

The rumors began after fans noticed that they weren't following each other on social media. Some fans were quick to call out that their palpable chemistry as Rick and Chelsea and the actors potentially not wanting to spark any rumors was the reason for their distance. Goggins, after all, has been married to Nadia Conners since 2011. Goggins recently revealed he runs his own social media accounts, and that sent the internet into a further frenzy. 

Notably, the actors weren't paired together during the press tour for Season 3, and their co-star Jason Isaacs, who played Tim Ratliff, added more flames to the fire by vocalizing there was behind-the-scenes drama while filming in Thailand. In an interview with Sirius XM, the actor said, “They say in the show, ‘What happens in Thailand stays in Thailand,’ but there’s an off-screen White Lotus as well, with fewer deaths but just as much drama.”
