Beginner--Trying to loft my queen bed with adjustable base
I'm planning to loft my queen size bed with its adjustable tempurpedic base so that I can create a small desk/reading area underneath. My initial thought was to just make my own (much longer) legs that would screw into the base the same way the original ones do. But I am super worried about safety, and I couldn't find any information about whether/how the maximum weight capacity would be affected by the increase in height, or if I should be using a certain material for the legs for safety reasons. I'm also worried about the possibility of shear weight causing critical failures if I'm climbing up the side of the frame to get on top of the bed. I don't want a leg to snap because I pull on it in the wrong direction. Does anyone have experience lofting a heavy queen bed, or especially any experience with lofting a bed with an electric adjustable base? What safety considerations are actually a worry, and which ones are just my OCD? Any help appreciated! (I know this is a very basic question, but I promise I am familiar with the rules of the subreddit and have tried googling etc--I just can't seem to get the keywords right to actually find any answers to my questions.) Thank you for any information or ideas on how to more effectively look this up! submitted by /u/elljobellnackle [link] [comments]
