Captain Henqua’s Spoils is one of the earliest treasure maps you can get in Avowed, and if you prefer a defensive playstyle, it’s an essential one to complete. Unlike some of the other maps in Dawnshore, Captain Henqua’s Spoils is comparatively straightforward and won’t even lead you into (too much) danger.
This Avowed guide shows where to find the Captain Henqua’s Spoils treasure map, where the treasure map is telling you to go, and what reward is waiting for you at the end.
Where to find Captain Henqua’s Spoils treasure map in Avowed

The Captain Henqua’s Spoils treasure map is in a bundle of items at the top of the lighthouse in Claviger’s Landing.
The lighthouse’s entrance is blocked, but you can climb the side by leaping across scaffolding until you eventually reach the top. You can’t actually fix the lighthouse, despite talk in town and on the notice board about it being out of commission, so the only thing to do here is grab the map and admire the view. Leap off the little wooden walkway into the sea for a quick exit.
Captain Henqua’s Spoils location solution

This treasure map drawing points north, out of Claviger’s Landing and along the river until you reach a bridge. This point is almost due east of the Old Pargrun Wall text marker, and the safest way to reach it is just following the river. You’ll run into a few beetles and possibly some spiders, if you stray from the riverbank, but nothing majorly taxing.
The treasure marker on the map points to a little indent on the bank, though it’s slightly misleading. Look for a cluster of roots, then dive underwater. You’ll see a small passage leading under the bank.
Swim through it, emerge from the water, and take your reward – a unique shield called Wind and Wave. There’s also a treasure chest with some useful materials to your right, so grab that before you leave.
Captain Henqua’s Spoils reward

The Wind and Wave shield has higher stats than the common shield you can find or buy in Claviger’s Landing, and it comes with two enchantments.
Wind and Wave stats
- Block: 39
- Stability: 20
- Parry efficiency: 95
- Elemental resistance: 13
Wind and Wave enchantments
- Lesser Quickness: +10% move speed
- Lesser Freeze-Proofed: +20% frost accumulation resistance
Frost accumulation isn’t something you have to worry about much at this point, but it comes in handy later.
