Carpet Trim Question

We are finishing up the base trim in the room over our garage before we have it carpeted. We are unsure if we need to have a bullnose on our steps or if it will be fine to not have it. I see 2 paths for this and I can not find a clear answer online. The rest of the stairs in our house are hardwood so they don't help. No bullnose and have the carpet just run over it. This will create a set of steps with a flat face and no feature. Install a premade section of bullnose that will require me to cut out some OSB and attach it. Most likely I will have a thickness issue with the items at the local hardware store, but I can always use my router to skim the backside of the premade part. I am not going to nail bullnose to the OSB due to concerns about structural. https://imgur.com/a/WO6C1aR submitted by /u/GmanJet [link] [comments]

  1. No bullnose and have the carpet just run over it. This will create a set of steps with a flat face and no feature.

  2. Install a premade section of bullnose that will require me to cut out some OSB and attach it. Most likely I will have a thickness issue with the items at the local hardware store, but I can always use my router to skim the backside of the premade part.
