Chase & Lyft Partnership Offers Bonus Points, Credits

In 2020, we saw the introduction of a partnership between Chase and Lyft, offering the opportunity for cardmembers to earn bonus points and receive perks. Like most credit card partnerships, this one was limited time, and was supposed to expire on March 31, 2025.

There’s now an update — the partnership has been extended, but with some benefits changes, both positive and negative. There’s both good and bad news, so let’s cover the details.

Chase offers bonus points and credits with Lyft

Chase and Lyft have extended their partnership, and have just announced the new perks that we can expect between April 1, 2025, and September 30, 2027. With this, here are the Lyft perks that we can expect on various Chase cards during this period:

To take advantage of this, just add your eligible Chase card to your Lyft profile, and use it to pay for rides. You’ll see the bonus points automatically post to your Chase account, and there’s no limit to how many bonus points you can earn. Similarly, in the case of the Chase Sapphire Reserve, you’ll see the in-app credit automatically deposited in your account if you have it linked.

So, what has changed compared to the previous partnership?

  • Points earning on some cards are being reduced — the Chase Sapphire Reserve goes from earning 10x points to earning 5x points, while the Chase Freedom products go from earning 5x points to 2x points
  • Unlike before, the Chase Sapphire Reserve no longer offers a Lyft Pink membership

Personally, I value Ultimate Rewards points at ~1.7 cents each. So while I’m sad to see points earning opportunities reduced and the Lyft Pink membership eliminated, I’ll still take this new arrangement. 5x points and a monthly $10 credit is better than nothing.

This partnership has changed my rideshare behavior

When it comes to these types of partnerships, I think there are often questions about how well they actually work when it comes to influencing consumer behavior in the long run. Is Lyft just giving something away to Chase cardmembers for free, and then when benefits end, people go back to their old behavior?

I can only speak for myself, but this partnership has definitely changed my behavior:

  • Before the partnership was introduced, I almost always used Uber, while now I almost always use Lyft
  • I’ve just generally found Lyft to be a friendlier platform, I’ve found the pricing to be competitive (and often better), and then the bonus points are the icing on the cake
  • For premium rides in Miami, I find that Lyft is significantly cheaper than Uber, so I very much appreciate that
  • While I’m sad to lose the Lyft Pink membership, I still value the $10 credit pretty close to face value

Don’t forget to earn other rewards for your Lyft rides

As a general reminder, Lyft also has partnerships with Alaska Mileage Plan, Bilt Rewards, and Hilton Honors, so members can earn bonus rewards with their choice of one of those three programs:

  • Alaska and Lyft have a partnership, offering 1x Alaska Mileage Plan miles per dollar spent on US and Canada Lyft rides, with no caps on how many miles you can earn
  • Bilt and Lyft have a partnership, offering 2x Bilt Rewards points per dollar spent on US rides, with no caps on how many points you can earn
  • Hilton and Lyft have a partnership, offering 3x Hilton Honors points per dollar spent on US Lyft private rides, on up to $10,000 of spending per year

Personally, I think the Bilt partnership is the most lucrative, while I’d consider the Alaska and Hilton partnerships to be roughly equally valuable. Also make sure you’re using the best credit cards for Lyft rides.

You can also earn Hilton Honors points for Lyft rides

Bottom line

The partnership between Chase and Lyft has been extended through September 30, 2027, with changes as of April 1, 2025. The Chase Sapphire Reserve is going from earning 10x points to earning 5x points, and it’s getting a $10 monthly Lyft credit in lieu of the Lyft Pink membership. Meanwhile Chase Freedom products are going from earning 5x points to 2x points. Other than that, everything stays the same.

What do you make of the extension and changes to the Chase and Lyft partnership?
