Everything We Know About the 'Wuthering Heights' Movie With Jacob Elordi
The 2026 film adaptation of the 1847 novel Wuthering Heights is bringing a star-studded cast, including Jacob Elordi, Margot Robbie, and more.

In the realm of literary adaptations that manage to be both fresh and high-profile, Wuthering Heights is shaping up to be the next big thing. Directed, written, and produced by Emerald Fennell, who last stirred the cultural pot with the infamous Saltburn film, this upcoming drama is a reimagining of Emily Brontë’s 1847 novel, promising a dark dive into one of literature’s most volatile love stories. And with Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi at its tragically poetic center, the film is already sparking award season conversations, nearly a year ahead of its release.

Wuthering Heights Cast
Leading the film are Barbie’s Margot Robbie as Catherine Earnshaw and Euphoria’s Jacob Elordi as Heathcliff, two of Hollywood's most coveted actors in 2025. Robbie is shaping up to be the perfect fit for the emotionally layered portrayal that comes with playing Catherine, as she proved herself worthy of an emotionally vulnerable role in Barbie. Elordi, who has made a name for himself playing magnetic men and forbidden love interests, feels almost destined for the role of Heathcliff—the orphan turned obsession whose love curdles into vengeance. Elordi may look a little more rugged in this film, however, than in his usual roles, and was recently seen sporting a gold tooth while filming that left fans relieved it's just a costume.
The supporting cast is equally impressive, with Shazad Latif (Star Trek: Discovery) playing Edgar Linton, Catherine’s other suitor and eventual husband, while Hong Chau (The Whale, The Menu) takes on the role of Nelly Dean, the servant and narrative thread of the story. Alison Oliver, fresh off her breakout in Saltburn, reunites with co-star Jacob Elordi, starring as Isabella Linton.
Rounding out the ensemble are newcomers Charlotte Mellington, Vy Nguyen, and Owen Cooper (Adolescene) —playing the younger versions of Catherine, Heathcliff, and Nelly.
Wuthering Heights Plot
Wuthering Heights is a tale of obsessive love and revenge set against the bleak, windswept moors of 19th-century England. It is Emily Brontë’s only novel, and is favored as one of the best gothic literary novels that entertains a different, haunting perspective of love.
At its core is the tumultuous relationship between Catherine Earnshaw and Heathcliff—an orphan taken in by her family who grows up to be deeply in love with Catherine, but tormented by social exclusion. As their bond breaks, Heathcliff seeks revenge.
Fennell’s Wuthering Heights is expected to honor the raw emotional chaos of Brontë’s original text, but we can expect Fennell’s signature blend of high opulence and decay, following the trail she blazed in Saltburn.
Wuthering Heights Release Date
Although it still seems far into the future, mark your calendars: Wuthering Heights will hit theaters on February 14, 2026—Valentine’s Day. Definitely an intentional twist, given the film's themes of doomed love and emotional destruction, perfect for all hopeless romantics and yearners of the world. And with Robbie and Elordi leading the campaign trail, the film is expected to dominate box offices, awards chatter, and social media buzz.
Until then, prepare for trailers and fan debates over whether Catherine and Heathcliff are soulmates or simply soul-crushers (I'm a hopeless romantic, so soulmates it is).
