Fixing tile backer board
Hi I’m looking for advice on installing tile backer board onto brickwork in my bathroom and I’m getting a lot of conflicting information and feeling at a bit of a loss of what to do for the best. The finished wall covering is going to be some pvc panels. I’m told that for a brick wall around a combined bath and shower I’ll need a 12mm unprimed backer board, use SBR to prime one side of the board and brickwork and fix to the wall using a full coverage of tile adhesive. My main question is which tile adhesive would people recommend for this job? The types and price differences for adhesives are massive, I want to keep costs down but I’m not as daft as to buy inferior products just because of a low price. Any recommendations for this? I also want to keep the profile of the wall as low as possible to save space and have been told I could get away with using a 6mm board for this. Does anyone else have any experience with this?
