Floating Office Desk Support
I purchased 2x 48”x30”x1.5” butcher blocks that I wanted to mount to the wall. Each block weighs approximately 70lbs I believe. I plan on having 2x IKEA Alex drawers on each end to help support the table top. I purchased 2x 24”x18” wall bracket and had planned to install it in the middle. The problem though is, the stud in the middle where the butcher blocks meets is the typical 2”x4” wood stud and only has room for 1 bracket. What could I do to to add the 2nd bracket to help support the other block on the middle? Initially I had thought to install a 3/4” plywood that stretches the entirety of the length of the 2x butcher blocks (I hate the fact that if I went with a shorter width board, it would look obvious, offset and would bother me) and install the both brackets onto the plywood and screw the plywood to the studs. If this sounds right, what type of fasteners should I use to mount the brackets to the plywood? The brackets I bought are these: https://a.co/d/9i2tyJj submitted by /u/xtboy [link] [comments]
