G2 Esports has become the VCT Americas Stage 1 champions by defeating Sentinels (3-1) in yesterday’s Grand Final.

With this victory, G2 has secured 10 VCT Points and a direct Playoffs seed at the upcoming Masters Toronto event in June.

Following the VCT Kickoff and the first Masters event in Bangkok, VCT Americas Stage 1 was the second regional tier-one competition in the 2025 VALORANT Champions Tour season. The event ran from March 21st until May 4th, featuring 12 teams from the Americas.

As one of the strongest rosters in the region, G2 already displayed a dominant performance during Stage 1’s Group Stage. The team won all five matches within the Omega Group, leading to a direct placement in the Playoffs Upper Bracket Semifinals.

This is where G2 suffered its first and only defeat in Stage 1, losing to Sentinels 2-1 and dropping into the lower bracket. However, the team managed to bounce back by defeating both Evil Geniuses (2-1) and MIBR (3-1).

In the best-of-five Grand Final, G2 then had to face Sentinels once again. While all maps were close, G2 ultimately proved its ability to adapt and learn from past losses. The squad won the first two maps, Haven (13-9) and Split (13-9), as well as the final map, Ascent (13-10). Meanwhile, Sentinels only secured the third map, Pearl (10-13).

Twenty-year-old Trent ‘trent’ Cairns was crowned Match MVP and later commented on the series via social media: “Ggs 3-1 STAGE 1 CHAMPIONS and back-to-back domestic champions. So proud of this team and all the hard work that we’ve put in for this split. Shout out to my team for everything we’ve been through.”

G2 Heads to Masters Toronto

With VCT Americas Stage 1 concluded, G2 Esports, Sentinels and MIBR (3rd place) are among the 12 international teams to attend Masters Toronto. The second global tournament in this year’s VCT calendar will take place from June 7th-22nd, featuring a $1m (~£769,171) prize pool.

Moreover, as back-to-back VCT Americas champions, G2 has already earned 16 VCT Americas Points. The team currently leads the Americas region in terms of VCT Points ahead of Sentinels and MIBR with nine and seven points, respectively.

After Stage 2 in July, the two teams with the most points in each region may directly qualify for the season-ending VALORANT Champions tournament.
