Marvel Rivals has revealed the latest patch updates, notably featuring buffs and nerfs across the game’s most popular characters.
This update is seemingly aiming to elevate Strategists by giving them more offensive power, while reigning in specific Vanguards and Duellists to make them less dominant in games.
Here is everything you need to know about the latest Marvel Rivals balance patch update, which has now gone live.
Adam Warlock has a New Mechanic
A blog post was published online on the official Marvel Rivals website, highlighting the community’s rising frustrations with Strategist and their lack of defensive options — something NetEase acknowledged in the last Dev Diary.
The pattern here is giving more killing power to the support role, thus providing these characters more of a fighting chance when enemy heroes dive into the backline of their team.
- Adam Warlock
- Add a new effect to Quantum Magic: When a critical hit lands on an enemy, reduce the cooldown time of Avatar Life Stream by 1s.
- Cloak & Dagger
- As Cloak, increase the damage of the Darkforce Cloak from 75/s to 80/s; As Dagger, increase the damage of the Lightforce Dagger on hit from 15 to 18.
- Luna Snow
- Adjust the Damage Falloff of Light & Dark Ice from 60% at 40m to 75%.
- Mantis
- Increase the hit damage of Life Energy Blast from 50 to 55.
Winter Soldier Is Buffed in latest Marvel Rivals patch
NetEase teased in the last dev diary that it would address certain dive characters who proved to be quite powerful. While Spider-Man has been nerfed, Winter Soldier has gotten a few buffs, with new mechanics introduced to his base kit and team-up with Captain America.
- Spider-Man
- Decrease the damage range of Amazing Combo from a 5m radius to a 4m radius.
- Winter Soldier
- Adjust the Tainted Voltage ability to have 2 charge levels, while keeping the cooldown time unchanged.
- Stars Aligned (Winter Soldier – Captain America): Upon leaping to a teammate, Stellar Impact will provide 50 Bonus Health to allies within range.
NetEase Nerfs Groot and Captain America
Finally, a mix of nerfs and buffs have been issued to the most popular Vanguards in the game right now. Season 2 has seen Captain America and Groot dominate lobbies, even in the esports scene, which NetEase is finally addressing.
While Captain America has been nerfed, this may be offset by his new team-up buff with Winter Soldier, but only time will tell if the changes will impact his viability in any way.
- Captain America
- Reduce base health from 650 to 600.
- Doctor Strange
- Decrease the energy cost to unleash the Eye of Agamotto (Ultimate Ability) from 3400 to 3100.
- Groot
- Reduce the health of Ironwood Wall from 700 to 600.
