Help me please

Hi there! We'd like to mount a awning here, but unfortunately, the mounting holes on the awning are too low. The second mounting hole would end up in midair. One idea was to cut the upper beams that run lengthwise in the picture to gain more height, but we're unsure about the roof's stability if we do that. Does anyone have an idea how we could solve this problem? I’d really appreciate any advice!
