There was a lot to unpack in the first moments of Dior’s Spring/Summer 2025 show. First, artist and competitive archer Sofia Ginevra Giannì started firing bows the length of the runway. Then a model strides past her clad in a sporty getup wrapped with a brand-new Dior bag, the D-Journey, slung around her sporty black bodysuit.
This was a sum greater than its parts.
But now, without any arrows flying through the air, we can take a closer look at the bag so important that it graced the opening look of Dior’s SS25 show. Here, see how Dior shaped all D-Journey's renditions — some crafted from leather, others cut from Dior’s signature Oblique canvas — that followed in the 82-look presentation.
Designed by Maria Grazia Chiuri, creative director of Dior womenswear, the D-Journey bag is largely unstructured, decisively multifunctional, and entirely the work of its in-house artisans.

“The initial idea was to create a bag that could adapt to one’s needs and that, despite its dimensions, could preserve its lightness,” says Grazia Chiuri in a video dedicated to the bag's craftsmanship. “It features a multitude of zips and functions and it can be worn however one prefers. The strap can be removed to be worn by hand, depending on your needs.”
It is fitting that, in a collection defined by its interest in sportswear, even Dior SS25’s luxury bags have the functionality of sports gear.
When worn as a crossbody bag, the D-Journey's slouched shape is akin to the duffle bags one might utilize to tote their rackets or balls. In that way, it's like a very luxurious gym bag.
The bag's strap is punctuated by several gold buckles that allow it to change its from from crossbody bag to hand-held bag, but also matching the gold Christian Dior Paris lettering affixed by hand to a tab on every D-Journey.
Making a bag of this nature, with no internal structure, to Dior's standard takes some work: the panels are individually cut in a way that recalls pattern-making for garments, the lining has a complex layout, and its seams are so fine that they create the illusion of invisibility.
As such, it is available now on Dior’s website for up to $5,300.
