How to play solo in Elden Ring Nightreign

Elden Ring: Nightreign brings co-op multiplayer to the forefront of From Software's hardcore PvE experience, but you don't have to play with friends. In fact, you don't have to play with anyone at all. There is indeed an option to play solo in Nightreign, but you have to fiddle with some in-game menus to figure out how to get there. It's a simple task, and once you know how to do it, you'll be reigning your nights alone. Solo play is an option, yes, but we do heavily recommend picking up some friends to play with or at least using matchmaking to match up with like-minded gamers all trying to slay the difficult bosses and eventually take down the Night Lord. In any case, good luck out there. Here's how to play a solo expedition in Elden Ring: Nightreign. But before you do, tab over to Matchmaking Settings screen like in the image above. Then, scroll down to Expedition Type and select Single Player. Now you're ready for your solo adventure. Tab back over to the Target tab, select which boss you want to fight, and select Commence Solo Expedition. Now, get ready for the fight of your Nightfarer's life. Solo play in Nightreign is tough, so be prepared to die a lot. Thankfully, after an update deployed shortly after launch, you are allotted one free resurrection when playing by yourself, and the amount of Runes dropped by killed enemies has also been buffed. It still won't be easy, though. The Nightlord bosses in Nightreign are built to deal with multiple players at the same time, so they will whoop you pretty well until you learn their mechanics and have a good build going into the final boss fight. This means you will lose a level of progress and drop all of your Runes and have to pick them up again, so keep that in mind when faced with the frustrations of this co-op game in its solo variety. Good luck out there alone, Nightfarer. Maybe you're better off bringing friends, but if you're up to the task, the personal satisfaction of slaying these difficult boss fights will be yours for the taking.
