According to the latest LSports Quarterly Data Report, esports has emerged as one of the fastest-growing segments in the global sports betting industry.

The report, which analyses betting data from over 450 sportsbooks worldwide, reveals that esports saw a remarkable 70% year-over-year increase in fixture consumption during Q1 2025.

This surge cements esports as the third most in-demand offering for LSports clients, trailing only football and table tennis, and underscores its transition from a niche market to a mainstream betting vertical.

The momentum behind esports is not limited to traditional strongholds in Asia, where fixture consumption soared by more than 102% year-over-year.

Europe also recorded a significant milestone, surpassing the 2m fixture mark for only the second time.

Globally, esports now accounts for nearly 15m fixtures ordered annually by LSports’ sportsbook partners, reflecting its growing appeal to bettors and operators alike.

Diving Into The Data

The broader sports betting landscape also experienced notable shifts. Overall, global sports betting data consumption jumped by 32% year-over-year in Q1 2025.

Table tennis, in particular, rose to become the second most consumed sport worldwide, overtaking both basketball and tennis.

Lower-tier European football leagues entered the top ten most popular betting options, signaling a diversification in bettor preferences and highlighting emerging opportunities for sportsbooks.

Other key findings from the LSports report include a 209% spike in Champions League data demand in North America and record-breaking fixture consumption for March Madness, which registered the highest single-quarter numbers.

Dotan Lazar, CEO of LSports, emphasised that the report provides sportsbook operators and product strategists with clear, data-driven insights. He said: “This report gives a clear, data-backed view of where demand is heading – and where operators need to focus to stay ahead. Whether it’s emerging sports or overlooked competitions in traditional markets, the data shows where opportunity lies.”

As esports continues its rapid ascent and other sports experience shifting consumption patterns, the LSports Sports Data Report offers a comprehensive look at global sports betting dynamics in 2025, equipping industry leaders with the knowledge needed to stay ahead of the curve.
