North American esports organisation ENVY has announced its expansion into Rainbow Six esports.
While one organisation expands into Ubisoft’s tactical shooter title, Luminosity Gaming has quietly departed the scene ahead of North America League 2025: Stage 1.
In a social media post on June 3rd, 2025, ENVY announced it had acquired the roster previously known as JJ and Co, which achieved victory in the North America Challenger series to secure a place in the opening stage of the 2025 North America League.
North America League: Stage 1 sees 10 teams from the Americas come against each other from June 12th to July 24th. The top four teams from the online league will secure a place at the Esports World Cup, where a $2m (~£1.4m) prize pool is up for grabs.
Alongside a chance to compete in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the regional league will feature Six Invitational points, which helps determine the teams that qualify for the season-ending Six Invitational.
For ENVY, the expansion into Rainbow Six esports is the latest chapter in the organisation’s period of growth following its merger with Native Gaming in March. In May, it returned to Halo esports after a four-year absence.
Luminosity’s Rainbow Six Departure
With one esports organisation entering Rainbow Six esports, another has decided to exit. After joining Luminosity Gaming in May, June 3rd saw Landon ‘Beeno’ Ashbee announce that the team is looking for a new organisation to represent.
Despite Luminosity Gaming not officially announcing its exit from Rainbow Six, the move coincides with the organisation’s in-game cosmetics being removed from the in-game store.
As a result of the departure, the former Luminosity Gaming roster will be the only team competing in the North America League without the backing of an organisation.
While Lumiosity’s departure is a blow to the North American scene, Ubisoft continues to support the esport in the region. In May, the developer and publisher unveiled details on Element 5, a new tier-two ecosystem with a revised format.
