Metrograph to Host "Memoriam Marathon" of David Lynch Films
The Metrograph in New York is set to present In Dreams, an all-day, tribute to the legendary late David Lynch, on February 19. Following his passing last month, the theater takes a look back and honors Lynch's artistic legacy, promising “a full day of terror, bliss, crackpot comedy, ominous whooshing… and collective celebration of a titan of American art.”The “memoriam marathon” will see several of the director’s most pivotal films – Mulholland Drive, Inland Empire, Blue Velvet and Wild at Heart – alongside an introduction by cinematographer and Lynch’s longtime collaborator Frederick Elmes."It’s been such a privilege to be part of David's unique vision, one that transports us to worlds that are familiar and mysterious, frightening and dark, beautiful and inspirational,” expressed Elmes, who’s creative relationship with Lynch goes back to his feature debut Eraserhead. “ I’ll miss him dearly.”Lynch’s 50-year-long career left an indelible mark on modern cinema, shaped by his supremely surreal and beautifully unsettling oeuvre. “An inspirationally unselfconscious channeler of the darkest recesses of the creative id and eager innovator in film form, [he] will never, ever cease to speak to lovers of film art,” the Metrograph wrote in a recent statement.Head to the theater’s website for more information on screening times and purchasing tickets.Click here to view full gallery at Hypebeast
