Mounting into brick with only plastic anchor and regular drill?
I’m trying to mount a ~25lb, 5’ bookshelf through a brick wall hidden by plaster. I have a masonry bit, but I only have a regular drill and impact driver (Dewalt 20V Max). Additionally I only have plastic anchors. I’ve tried drilling a pilot hole so far without much luck, but before I damage my drill or masonry bits, is this too much weight for a plastic anchor in the first place? Should I switch over to a tapcon screw instead or something? And while we’re at it, do I really need a hammer drill? Half the research I find says it’s totally doable without one especially for older brick, but I’m a little hesitant to push things more than I already have submitted by /u/DeusGladiorum [link] [comments]
