Mounting w/cotton rope?

I created a multi-purpose adjustable mounting system in the vaulted ceiling of my living room, which I can use to mount/hang any number of things - hammock chair, sensory swing, trapeze, gym rings, etc. I built a brace in the attic out of a length of 2x6 with sections of 4x4 between the chords, ran two 1/2-inch eye bolts through the whole thing, hooked carabiners to the eye bolts, and attached lengths of 13mm climbing rope which came with thimbles pre-installed. Then, I threaded the loose ends of the ropes through two rope ascenders. So, I can hang whatever I want from the rope ascenders and adjust the height wherever I want. It was beautiful, or so I thought. My wife looked at it and informed me it was not beautiful. Specifically, having black climbing rope dangling in the living room is apparently not aesthetic. Therefore, I need to figure out how to replace the climbing rope with 5/8-inch 3-strand white cotton rope. Can anybody suggest how I can go about mounting this type of rope to my eye bolts? I prefer to keep the ability to easily take the rope down. I also need to figure out what sort of attachment to have at the end of the rope. I have found a 16mm ascender that will probably fit the rope, but that might not be all that attractive, either. If I choose to just leave it a fixed length, should I just go with a steel ring? submitted by /u/luvinthemountains [link] [comments]
