Over the weekend, the Japanese clothing label unveiled an all-new version of its flagship coat with Spiber's Brewed Protein™, a premium plant-based material that uses fermentation technology to provide a circular solution to protein fiber production.Brewed Protein™ fibers can be manipulated to offer a "silk-like sheen and delicacy, a luxurious smooth feel akin to cashmere, or the loftiness of high-quality wool," according to the brand. Thanks to the material's plant-based build and intricate fermentation process, it significantly reduces environmental and animal welfare impacts.The silhouette itself builds on the original Cruiser Jacket, with a one-hand snap closure on the front and a removable hood that can be worn as a stand collar. Patch and flap pockets, meanwhile, boast hand-warming functions with double-layer constructions, and a security pocket lives on the left chest.
