Overwatch 2 Stadium Asia Streamer Showdown announced

Overwatch 2 Stadium mode will host one of its first official tournaments since its launch back in April, with the Asia Streamer Showdown taking place later this June.

The event will see some of the top Overwatch streamers from Asia compete in the game’s newest mode, with English-speaking streamers broadcasting the showdown to allow anyone to tune in.

The event officially takes place on June 26th, 2025 at 19:00 PM KST/JST.

In an announcement online, the official Overwatch Esports account stated: “Mark your calendars for June 26th. The Overwatch 2 Stadium: Asia Streamer Showdown is coming your way. And yes, we’ll have English-speaking streamers co-streaming too, so don’t miss out no matter where you’re watching from!”

The Overwatch Esports Asia account also revealed the streamers partaking in the showdown, which includes Overwatch content creators, esports players and coaches. In total, there will be 15 players spread across three different teams based in Asian regions: Korea, Japan and China.

According to the announcement, the showdown will take place live at WDG Studio Hongdae in Seoul, South Korea.

Esports Insider has already talked in depth about the possibility of Stadium fostering its own esports scene, and this may be the first step towards making it a reality. This will be one of the first times fans will see professional esports athletes competing in Blizzard’s brand-new mode in an official manner.

Factors to consider in order to discern whether or not future Stadium esports-related events will continue include popularity among fans, interest from esports players and teams to pursue this mode, and whether there will be further official support from Blizzard Entertainment.

Success in Asia could potentially see similar events in the EMEA and North America regions, but fans will have to wait and see until June 26th to see if this could pave the way to something more for Overwatch 2 Stadium esports.
