Overwatch 2’s Gundam collab brings yet another Mercy skin tomorrow, but it may be a new favorite

Overwatch 2's latest crossover collab goes live tomorrow, and it unsurprisingly features a new skin for Mercy, but it just might be my favorite new skin of hers in a long time. OW2 and Gundam Wing are teaming up for the 30th anniversary of the classic anime series filled with mech battles, and Blizzard's favorite healer has the honor of donning the armor of the series' titular suit, Wing Zero. Image via Blizzard Entertainment The premium skin is one of four coming as part of the collab, alongside Ramattra as Epyon, Reaper as Deathscythe, and Soldier: 76 as Tallgeese. Mercy's the clear winner here when it comes to recognizable faces from the Gundam brand, making it a winning combo for both franchises. OW2's Gundam Wing event will run alongside the skins being available in the store, offering exclusive rewards like the Shinigami player title and Zero System spray, along with battle pass XP and other unlockables. This is just the latest in a growing line of collabs between OW2 and legendary anime franchises. There are already anime skins in the game from iconic series like Cowboy Bebop, Avatar: The Last Airbender, One Punch Man, and My Hero Academia. And that's not even including others like Porsche, LE SSERAFIM, and Transformers, so Blizzard has certainly gotten the bag when it comes to crossovers. With so many collabs in the past setting a precedent for what to expect from the skins and their bundles, including an individual skin price upwards of $20 each, along with a mega bundle that will include all four skins and other cosmetics, like highlight intros, emotes, and more. https://twitter.com/PlayOverwatch/status/1916887418801643694 The collab kicks off tomorrow on April 29 with the skins hitting the store, and they will be available until May 13, as will the challenges for players to grind through.
