Plastic on damaged ceiling?
I currently have a drop-down ceiling in my kitchen that I’m planning to replace. The ceiling above it is hideous and severely damaged. Since my house is quite old, I’m not entirely sure what caused the damage, but there are no issues currently. I’m considering removing the drop-down ceiling and installing ceiling joists where it currently is, followed by the addition of drywall. I’m wondering if it’s acceptable to cover the damaged ceiling with plastic. I frequently encounter batts above the drop-down ceiling, and I’d like to prevent them from crawling onto the new ceiling. Would this be a suitable solution in northern Illinois? submitted by /u/Bigpoppa061999 [link] [comments]
