PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium Slashed to $99.99 for a Year, But Only for New or Expired Members

Sony has rolled out a new PlayStation Plus discount for users in the US and select European countries, allowing those with expired memberships, or new members, to buy in at a significant discount. The deal runs from now until February 24, but due to the way the pricing works out, both Extra and Premium end up costing the same: $99.99 for a full year.

Since Premium includes everything in Extra plus classic games, game trials, and cloud streaming, on paper there’s no obvious reason to choose Extra over Premium. If you’re eligible, upgrading to Premium for the same price as Extra is seemingly the move, so long as you remember to cancel the auto-renewal so you don't have an inflated bill at the end of that 12-month discount.

  • PS Plus Premium – 12-month subscription for $99.99 (normally $159.99, a 37% discount)
  • PS Plus Extra – 12-month subscription for $99.99 (normally $134.99, a 25% discount)

This discount is only available to users whose PlayStation Plus memberships have expired—so if you’re an active subscriber, you won’t be able to stack this deal onto your existing plan. PSA: Cancelling your membership now won't work either. So if your current PS Plus plan is due to run out after the offer end date of February 24, you’re unfortuntely out of luck.

Additionally, the offer is only available in North America and select European countries. The UK and some other regions have been excluded this time round. Moreover, the Essential tier has been also left out of the promotion, continuing Sony’s pattern of prioritizing discounts on its higher-tier memberships. While Essential members can upgrade at a prorated cost, there’s no direct discount on 12-month Essential plans.

This deal comes just as February’s PlayStation Plus Game Catalog lineup has been revealed after the recent State of Play, featuring major titles like Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, TopSpin 2K25, and Lost Records: Bloom & Rage – Tape 1. Premium members also get access to new classic titles, including Patapon 3 and Dropship: United Peace Force.
