Repairing old stair case

I have a 100-year-old staircase down to a basement that has about 4 inches of rot at the bottom of the stringers from some flooding. The rest of the stringers are in remarkable shape and I'm trying to preserve as much of the original wood from the house as possible. This is what I'm thinking and wondering if there are any glaring problems with doing it this way. I want to support both stringers with 4x4s at the locations marked with magenta. Then I would cut off the bottom of the stringers where the red line is...essentially removing the bottom full and partial step. Then build a landing (either concrete or cement) to step down the last 10 inches or so. (The 3 4x4s already located in the picture are just part of the structure of the house and are quite far from and in no way attached to the stringers) submitted by /u/buchwaldjc [link] [comments]
